Infosys sets up Covid-19 care facilities for employees in 10 cities in India
Infosys Ltd. has set up Covid-19 care facilities for its employees and their dependents across 10 cities in India, as part of its initiatives to counter the pandemic.
India’s second largest software services provider has set up vaccination centres at its campuses and partnered with hospitals for vaccines, testing and medical care. Any employee contracting the virus will be given three weeks additional paid leave.
“So far, through our centres, we have been able to enable vaccination for 14,150 employees and family members. Infosys is in the process of setting up additional centres in campuses across India,” according to a company statement on Tuesday. Infosys has partnered with 172 hospitals across 34 cities for vaccinating its employees, the statement added.
Additionally, Infosys is working to provide support to families of employees who have succumbed to Covid-19, providing them financial aid and even exploring training and job opportunities for next of kin wherever feasible.
India’s IT services companies, which are among the biggest private employers in the country, have been proactive in their response to the pandemic. Infosys aside, HCL Technologies and Tech Mahindra too are extending all possible aid to their staff, as is industry bellwether Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. (TCS).
The sector employs nearly a quarter of India’s private workforce.
